Delta won't let me check in?

I'm traveling from LJU to TYS and it's an international flight. They say the found my reservation but I need to check in with the first operating airline of my trip. What does this mean?

This means that you contact the first airline you will be flying with and check in with them.

It sounds like you booked with Delta, but another carrier is operating your first flight. This is common. So you need to check in with whatever airline is operating that flight, and you will be able to get your boarding pass. The airline should be listed on your itinerary/email confirmation.

You may or may not be able to check in online with the airline operating the first flight. Go to their website, and put in whatever confirmation numbers you have, and see if anything works. I often have one flight operated by Air France, and have sometimes been able to check in online and get my boarding pass, but not always. You may have to wait until you get to the airport.

The flight from Ljubljana is probably operated by Adria air between Ljubljana and Frankfurt. You need to check in with Adria air, not Delta

You get on one plane then go transfer to another one. You need to check in for the plane you are taking first.

Look on the itinerary for your trip. There should be a small-print note for your first flight that says "Operated by ____" (it will probably be Adria, which is the Slovenian national airline). You check in online with that airline. It may be necessary to call the airline and talk to a human to gt their confirmation number for your flight.

THis just means that you are flying with a partner airline and for whatever reason that airline needs to check you in. Worst case senerio when you get to the airport go extra early, go to the delta counter and if the agent can't check you in, they will walk you to the person who can
