What's the best way to take a desktop on a plane trip?
I'm going on a trip to Los Angeles an will be using Spirit Airlines. However, I'm planning on taking my HP ENVY 23-Inch All-in-One Touchscreen Desktop with Beats Audio and was wondering what was the best way to take it with me?
Pack it Really well in a suitable box (you wouldn't have the original box would ya?) and check it. One thing, tho… They treat checked luggage like trash. Beware.
On Spirit you can only check larger item, and believe me this would not be treated with enough care for it to arrive in the same condition. If it's only a short trip I'd leave it at home.
The best way is to just leave it at home. But if you must take it with you carry-on is not an option.
The Carry-On limits for Spirit are 23x18x10, the Envy 23 is 22.5x17.2x3.9. So technically with no padding or protection it will fit the Carry-On limits on Spirit. But with absolutely no protection in the overhead bin your All-In-One may end up as a 2-3 piece jigsaw puzzle by the time you arrive at your destination. If you add any sort of decent protection you will be oversize, and they are very strict in this size, and I would not suggest checking it.
So if you must take it with you, take your computer to a local shipping store and have them pack and ship it to your destination. Just realize that this will run you anywhere from about $20-$75 for the packaging, and $30-$300+ depending on how fast you want it there.
- Best way to get to Times Square from JFK airport? Traveling into JFK & need to know the best ways to get to our hotel from there. I've read a couple different ways like a cab or taking the Airtrain
- I noticed a complete round trip airline ticket is cheaper than one way? I see one way tickets for $300 while round trips are $225. I'm not certain when I'd return, so would there be some kind of penalty for buying the cheaper round top ticket. Then after I fly there, cancel my return trip. And just by a ticket when I decide to return?
- Can you use only the return portion of a round trip plane ticket? I have a trip booked in October and I need to change the day I leave from Sunday to Saturday. It is a basic fare so I can't make any changes. I think the least expensive work around is for me to buy another 1-way ticket leaving on Saturday, and using the return portion of my original ticket. Does anyone know if you can do this? I tried to call the airline but they are slammed with calls due to the incoming hurricane…
- What is the cheapest way to get to DFW Airport for a 1-month trip? I'm going to England for about a month around Christmas, and I live in OKC. I find a wildly cheaper flight on Iceland Air, but the catch is that I'd somehow have to hoof it to DFW airport, but it'd save a couple thousand (I have multiple passengers). What would be the cheapest way to get there and back? And getting driven by a friend is not an option, as the few people I know who might be able to drive 4 hours on a workday are unfortunately occupied.
