Can you use only the return portion of a round trip plane ticket?
I have a trip booked in October and I need to change the day I leave from Sunday to Saturday. It is a basic fare so I can't make any changes. I think the least expensive work around is for me to buy another 1-way ticket leaving on Saturday, and using the return portion of my original ticket. Does anyone know if you can do this? I tried to call the airline but they are slammed with calls due to the incoming hurricane…
It depends on the airline but generally you can't. When you miss a leg of the trip, the remainder of the itinerary is cancelled
However, some budget airlines treat each way on a round trip as a one way ticket and you can do what you want. I did this with Transavia one trip when I was scheduled to fly from Bologna to Amsterdam but was in Sweden on business. They let me buy a ticket from Copenhagen to Amsterdam and then use the original return from Amsterdam to Bologna.
Yes you can, you paid for the ticket
just contact your travel agent or airline
You can use the return portion of a round trip plane ticket. I don't think you're going to get any refund. But you can still use the ticket.
When your first flight takes off without you, the rest of your itinerary will be canceled. Don't do it.
NO. With the exception of Southwest Airlines, if you miss your departing flight, any subsequent flights on the itinerary are canceled.
Read the fine print on your ticket. Another one of the restrictions of a basic fare is that if you don't cancel your first flight, the return portion is canceled without rebooking or any credit.
So either way, your return ticket is getting canceled.
Generally if you don't use the outgoing ticket, the return will be cancelled.
Most airlines don't give discounts for r/t. They charge by the leg. They often bundle them into a r/t, but if you were to find those flight individually they would add to the same amount.
Basic fares almost always are changeable, but for a hefty fee. It may or may not be better than re-booking completely.
Confirm with your airline what their policy is about skipping a leg. Many do not allow this and will cancel the second half. All airlines I know have a callback option so you don't have to remain on hold.
No, you Can't do that. As soon as you do not show up for the outbound leg of your original ticket, the return leg will be canceled.
Talk to the airline and explain what you want to do. They are the only ones who can help you.
Miss the first leg all other legs including return is cancelled
Yes but contact them first. You may be able with the same airline get a discount on a new outbound ticket. On a 1 way ticket. If they can resale your ticket. Or I have got a 1 way ticket outbound but moved to business class. & cargo clas return on the oregenal ticket.
- How much should a decent round trip airline ticket cost? A round trip airline ticket from Columbus, Ohio to Orlando, Florida, flying coach or economy? I don't fly enough to know a genuinely good price from a "too good to be true" or too expensive. Trying to decide whether it's worth it to just drive.
- Plane ticket has first, middle and last name but my passport only has first and last name? I'm flying Scandinavian Airlines and my plane ticket has my first, middle, and last name but my passport only has my first and last name. Does anyone have any experience with this or think it will be an issue? I called the travel agency and they told me they could not do anything to correct the middle name. I was also thinking about bringing another form of ID like a birth certificate or social security card to be safe.
- Will i be denied boarding if i only use my initials? I've recently booked a ticket with areoflot airlines from riga to Colombo my full name is EvanaHennedigePoornamaSanjula De Silva. (desilva being my surname) but my eticket says EHP SANJULA DESILVA. Will i be denied boarding?
- I noticed a complete round trip airline ticket is cheaper than one way? I see one way tickets for $300 while round trips are $225. I'm not certain when I'd return, so would there be some kind of penalty for buying the cheaper round top ticket. Then after I fly there, cancel my return trip. And just by a ticket when I decide to return?
