When booking on RYANAIR, there doesn't seem to be a discount if you book a return ticket as opposed to booking 2 single tickets. Right?
With most airlines, you get a discount in ticket fare if you buy a return ticket, say from London to Madrid, instead of buying two single tickets, say from London to Madrid and then Madrid to London.
But with RYANAIR, it doesn't seem to make a difference ticket price wise if you buy a return ticket in this scenario or if you buy 2 single tickets.
Is this true? This is the conclusion I have come to going through their website.
It might be because they are a budget airline.
They are money grabbers. I looked into a Ryanair holiday. The hand luggage size has changed and is now tiny. If you want to add hand luggage, it can double the cost of the ticket. It is only a budget airline if you fly from A - B with no luggage at all. And yes, they charge a fee for each flight, so no discounts.
Right. That's true with many budget airlines. Each direction is an independent trip.
It is why you need to compare "budget" airlines with not-budget airlines before deciding on flights. Also compare things like if you have to pay extra for non-alcoholic drinks and if you have to pay extra to have a carry on bag on the "budget" airline. For example, if a r/t ticket on the budget airline is 90 Pounds and the same trip on the non-budget airline is 100 Pounds you will probably be better off monetarily if you don't have to pay for coffee/soda/tea/water each way.
I prefer EasyJet but they do the same with independent tickets. This is good if you like to travel around on holiday so you can fly to Biarritz in France and return from Barcelona in Spain and it it still a cheap flight.
You're right. All budget airlines (such as Ryanair) and many other ones show separately fares of outbound and inbound flights.
And when budget airlines are concerned, if you opt for a one-way trip, you will get mostly the same fare as this of an outbound flight of the corresponding return ticket of the same budget airline. However, some budget airlines may add a surcharge when you book a one-way tickets.
