Will Ryanair refund tickets when my son (although not flying) has been taken into hospital seriously ill?

I was due to fly with Ryanair this week but my son has been taken into hospital so I can't go away (and other kids are all seriously ill at home with chronic diarrhoea. Plus I have had the same until today. Will Ryanair refund the costs? Or do I leave my partner to look after the kids and fly despite all the illnesses?

Ring Ryanair and ask them.

You said you shouldn't leave him, so call Ryanair to see about refunds or rescheduling a flight, and stay home. You might spread what your children have to everybody on the plane. You may not feel it yet, but may already be shedding the illness--would it be fun to start having diarrhea on the plane, or to know that you made people ill?

You should never leave your children when they are seriously ill. Sorry. Just my opinion.

Rynair will not refund the costs.

You will need to claim this back from your travel insurers.

No

If you provide a doctor's note, the airline will allow you to change the ticket for another trip.
If you have trip cancellation insurance, you would use that. Again, a doctor's note is needed.

You and your children have acute diarrhea not chronic.

Of course not. It's Ryanair FFS.

I'd suggest you claim on your travel insurance - but if you could afford travel insurance you wouldn't be flying with Ryanair in the first place.

Not a chance.

Nope. Your insurance will IF you've taken travel-health insurance… And have a serious reason to cancel indeed. Not Ryanair's problem.

Knowing Ryanair, they will not be interested, I also doubt even the best travel insurance would cover you, it's a tummy bug, I had it this past weekend. Maybe your son has it more severely, but that's life. Except you'll lose the booking, and book later when the family are better.
