I'm confused? Need help with travel question?

I'm planning to travel to a foreign country soon. I have bought the ticket already. I live in the USA. I have bought the ticket online and it is a one way ticket. I'm going to buy the return ticket when I'm in that country and ready to leave which may be in a few months after my arrival. My question is do I have to pay for the return ticket in USD or do I have to pay for the return ticket in that country's currency? I will be paying online from the airline's website.

It depends on how the airline's website works. Some detect what country you are in and charge the fare in that country's currency.
If you use a credit card that doesn't charge foreign exchange fees (which you should have if you are traveling abroad), then it really doesn't matter. What they charge should be equivalent to the USD price, unless there are added taxes for purchasing from that country. A workaround could be to have someone get on the website back in the US and purchase it for you, if you trust them with your credit card info.

I know someone who traveled to the UK on a one way ticket. He was stopped by immigration in the UK because he didn't have a return ticket, and he was sent back on the next plane. It's very risky to do that. The airline may not even let you on the plane without a return ticket.

Depends on how the ticket is listed - foreign currency or USD. If you use a credit card (or I guess even a debit card) the process will be seamless for you, and USD will come out of your bank account. Have a good trip.

This is the least of your problems. Without a return ticket you may very easily be refused entry into your destination country. Do make sure NOW that you are able to enter that country without a return ticket or other proof that you intend to return home.
If you buy your ticket with a debit or credit card you don't need to know what currency it is in; you'll be charged the equivalent in your own currency.

Most countries will not let you in unless you have a ticket leaving their country that is dated for the same day or earlier that your visa expires
It does not have to be a round trip just out of that country

You will likely need a return or onward ticket before you will be allowed entry into the country. They want to make sure you aren't planning to overstay.

  • What documents do I need to travel in Mexico? Okay so here is my situation. I'm a US citizen (born in the US), however I have the option to become a dual citizen because my mom is from Mexico. I'm going to be flying on a US plane from Texas to Mexico City, then I'll be flying on a Mexican airline from Mexico City to Cancun. Do I need a visa? Or any other special documents besides a US passport? Would it be a lot easier if I get my Mexican citizenship?
  • I just volunteered to give my seat up for a travel voucher. Do I even need to show up to original flight? I can drive home in rental? I volunteered my seat upon check in for my flight with united from Chicago to Cincinnati. I could easily drive there and make it back to Cincinnati faster than my original flight in my rental. Do I need to be present at the airport for my original flight to redeem the travel voucher?
