Do airlines have to show a safety demonstration before a flight?

My Qatar Airways flight was delayed 1 hour 30 minutes from Heathrow because a detained man being deported was put onto the flight. I was 2 seats to the left of him and his security at the rear of the plane. Once he was on and secure we starting taxying. We didn't get a safety demonstration by the crew and neither was a video shown on the screens. Was this legal?

Write to Qatar Airways and tell them everything. You may get a free ticket. And yes you are right, they should have shown the safety demo or film.

I often wonder during that safety demo if there's anyone left on earth who doesn't know how to fasten their seat belt, or that the oxygen masks drop from the ceiling. But they are probably required to do the demonstration. You can try writing to the airline, but I doubt that they'll pay any attention.

Maybe you were daydreaming during the 1.5 hours you waited for this individual

It is in the US however you were in the UK where law may be different. But perhaps you fell asleep

It's certainly against policy, although I'm not sure if it's illegal. I would notify the airline of what happened.
