Do you have a question? You already know you will set the alarms off. But I doubt they will shoot you on the spot.

So what is theproblem
do you not think that security have encountered these problems before and know how to pass a genuine case
just give your self plenty of time to get through the security checks

1. There's no question here.
2. If you are asking about what you are supposed to do, you tell TSA (or whoever it is because you don't mention what country you are flying out of). They will screen you another way.

And you think you're the first person they've ever seen with these things? Tell them about the knee brace. They can see the walking stick with their own eyes.

Yes, and so?
You TELL the security officer about your knee brace. You SHOW them your walking stick.
There will be no problem. Just allow a few extra minutes.

You have issues.
Airport security has seen these items before.
You INFORM the Agent. They in turn will do what they do for the situation.

You DO NOT NEED TO KNOW exactly what they MIGHT do.
The bad guys want too know and I have no intention on elaborating on the exact sequence of events for every possible additional security thing that may be done as deemed necessary by the Agent on scene.
You could bring some sort of note from your doctor indicating your knee things.

The walking stick can be examined and refused boarding if they suspect something.

This is not rare and something Agents deal with every week in the normal performance of passenger screening.

You just DO AS INSTRUCTED and they will do what they do.

Enjoy your flight. If this surgery/medical condition was recent suggest you verify with your doctor your suitability to fly for the intended flight.

I will stop you, ex marine

Been there, done that. They just scanned the brace (mine was actually an ankle-to-hip immobilizer). They could ask you to remove it.

Is this a statement or a question. If it is a question then my answer is… Carry your x-rays with you.

Tell the TSA, that your brace has metal in it, also tell them you need yor cane to walk
