Connected flights, go to the airport that is 3 hours away or go to the airpot where it connects that is 50 mins away?

I'm booking a flight that is 3 hours away from me, but it is a connected flight. The connected flight is only 50 minutes away from my house,

could i just go to the airport when my connected flight lands and wait there?

They do not have to honor the ticket. You were supposed to book from the proper airport.

It is a "connecting" flight, not "connected"

No. In fact, if you don't show up for the first flight, the rest of your itinerary is cancelled.

You'd have to contact the airline and change the booking to get rid of the first leg, and pay a change fee and any increased costs for the revised flights.

Sure

You will not be allowed to board the connecting flight. Why don't you just book a flight from the nearest airport!

No

As opurt posted, once you don't show up for the originating flight, the rest of your itinerary is cancelled

No, you can't. When you don't show up for the first flight, the airline will cancel the rest of your itinerary.

Sure you can go to the closer airport and wait for the plane to arrive. Just don't expect to be allowed to board the flight. Because as soon as you miss the first flight the rest of your itinerary is automatically cancelled by the airline, this includes your return ticket as well.

Most likely the only reason you are considering this is because of cost, where the flight leaving from the farther airport is cheaper. So you have to decide if traveling the extra 2 hours is worth the money you are saving.

Why not book your flight from the airport that's only 50 minutes away?

No, No, No.

If you skip the initial flight, then ALL remaining segments on your ticket will be CANCELLED. Including the return segments.

You will not get any refunds.
