Can I bring my modded Nintendo 3DS or Switch to Japan with the new laws in place?
I'm going to Japan for two weeks and wanted to bring my CFW (custom Firmware) 3DS and my Switch that only has a custom shell housing, nothing modded software wise just, a new color. With the new law in Japan outlawing console modding and save editing, it makes me worry that airport security or someone is going to be mad and I get in trouble. I was hoping someone who is an expert in Japan's laws know if I'm okay if I only bring it for personal use and nothing else. I'm not selling or distributing any products or services.
Added (1). The details on the law as far as I know only talks about distributions, offered services, and key sharing without permission. I just want to be sure.
You'll probably be arrested if they find out.
Did you manage to get you hacked console to Japan?
- Is Newark, NJ a bad place? I will be visiting Newark, NJ in June for a concert/convention, and i'm curious as to if the city is as bad of a place as I hear. My hotel is at the airport right outside the Ironbound area, and i'll ONLY be in the downtown area at the Prudential Center. I won't even be leaving the Prudential Center grounds except for when I use Uber and cabs to get back to the hotel. SO i'm just wondering if there's anything I would have to look out for.
- If I switch flights, will I be exempted from the US ban for laptops? So what if I go from Dubai International airport(Banned) to France international airport(Not Banned) and then from there to the US. Will I be allowed to have my laptop with me?
