Is their anyway to upgrade from a Basic Economy ticket to a regular economy ticket on United Airlines? I booked through Expedia too
Is their anyway to upgrade from a Basic Economy ticket to a regular economy ticket on United Airlines? I booked through Expedia too - 1
Contact Expedia and/or United Airlines.
NO. When you booked your ticket, it was explained that there are NO changes or refunds to the ticket. What part of that do you not understand? Whether or not you read it doesn't matter.
No, there isn't. As noted on the United Airlines website in the FAQs:
"Can I make changes to my reservation after I have purchased it?
You are not allowed to make changes to Basic Economy tickets, but most other tickets allow for changes. If your ticket can be changed, you may do so in Manage Reservations after purchasing. Please note that a change fee may apply."
Frankly you need to speak to United Airlines, they can properly advise you of your options, don't expect anything from Expedia. Others have said you can't upgrade, but I've never heard of an airline that isn't willing to take more money of a customer.
No, that is one of the restrictions of a Basic Economy ticket. It can't be upgraded or changed.
Most airlines I know, let you upgrade to a full economy.
however, SOME of the restrictions remain.
So you might get flexibility.
and refundability - but only back to the original price of the non-refundable ticket.
(ie, you can't upgrade to then later get a 100% refund - they are wise to that!)
Talk to United Airlines. OR expedia.either should be able to make the change
do however expect that you may have to pay extra commission to Expedia on top of the ticket price (as they are the agent)
It may however be cheaper and more cost effective to just buy a new ticket
There's some terminology intricacies you need to know here.
You will notice that when they talk about upgrades they talk about upgrading to Economy Plus or using any benefits of your Mileage Plus or Premier membership. So In terms of using your benefits of the Premier or Mileage Plus, or paying to upgrade to a Economy Plus seat. NO you will not be allowed to do that.
However, you can PAY to upgrade out of BE to regular Economy. Just be aware that the cost of this upgrade will often end up costing you more than just buying the regular Economy ticket did in the first place.
If you booked this within the last 24 hours, United gives you 24 hours to cancel your flight for a full refund, even in BE. So if you are thinking of upgrading to Regular Economy and it hasn't been 24 hours you should consider doing that As soon as possible.
- Which airline companies pay their future flight attendants during their training, and which airline companies are unionized? I also wanted to know which airline companies pay their future flight attendants during their training time, as well as which ones pay for their housing whether it be at a hotel somewhere or not. And which airline companies pay their flight attendants the best and treat their employees the best?
- I purchased a flight through costco for American Airlines how can I find out if I have basic economy? I recently went on another trip and it was very clear I was purchasing basic economy tickets, but through costco I'm not sure. My last trip it said "Economy B" but for this ticket when I look online it just says Economy. I'm wondering if I can bring a bag and a personal bag.
- I cancelled a flight on expedia and was refunded in airline credit. I had purchased insurance on the ticket and didn't realize I had to File a claim to be refunded. I'm **** out of luck because I already ordered my other tickets and American Airlines is charging a $200 fee on the airline credit, so even if I eventually use the credit in the next 12 months, I'm still out $200.
- Can I upgrade to first class with my many many points? I have a main cabin ticket on American Airlines issued by a tour company. Is there a mechanism that I can use to sacrifice my many flight points to get a first class seat? I do not have a gold status.
