Is it bad that I'm nervous about being on a plane alone, but I love to travel?

My goal is to travel the world. Everyone has a passion, and traveling is mine. I've always been on planes with my parents, but this summer (I'm 17), I'm going on a plane by myself and will stay with relatives. I know my parents won't be able to always travel with me, and this is good practice. But I'm so nervous; navigating around the airport, buying food in the airport, being on the plane, getting my luggage when I land. So nervous. I will have to do this sooner or later, so this is practice for when I'm like 21+ and wanna travel.

None of it is rocket science. The airport is full of signs telling you where to go. The food outlets are keen to sell you stuff. Once you get to the departure gate, everything is regulated and you do what you're told. Most of the other passengers have luggage in the hold, so you can follow the crowd to baggage reclaim. Take a look on YouTube and you'll probably find videos walking you through your departure and arrival airports.

There's nothing hard about travelling on a plane, maybe you have grumpy westerner syndrome, they are people who go nuts and trouble everyone else just by being on a plane

No, it's not bad. It's something you'll get used to the more you do it. It's normal to be nervous the first time or few times

But I'm so nervous; navigating around the airport, buying food in the airport.
Being an average 17 year old it must difficult for you to manage a shopping mall and getting something to eat at the food court.

getting my luggage when I land. Really where do you think it might be? Most go to the baggage claim area and look for their flights bags in the appropriate SIGNED area set aside for the flight.HINT follow the crowd getting off your plane must are also going for their luggage too.

You can survive disconnect one ear pod so you can hear announcements. Stop talking on your phone for a few minutes and listen and look to see what is going on around you.
Stop playing your game on your gadget for a few minutes as you work your way from place to place in the Airport.

If you get confused try using a HUMAN staff person at the Airport and ask directions.

You are not expected to know everything.Every day there are first time users of Airports.

Is it bad? Yes it is. Even though you traveled with your parents, you are old enough to navigate an airport by yourself.

It's not 'bad' but it's silly. If you can read you can travel alone.

Absolutely normal, people perceive airplanes as flying death machines, but you just have to learn to get over that fear because even if it were struck by lightning, you wouldn't die, and the plane would just keep flying

No, because it's normal to be nervous to fly alone. I too love travelling, but I haven't ever flown on an airplane alone either, but want to sometime. I'm not that nervous about it, because I've been on airplanes a lot of times, and have had separate seats from my parents a couple times, that felt like I was flying alone. Also where are you going? I've flown separately from my parents in a different row on an international flight once, while coming back from India from India to the United Arab Emirates, but that was just around 3-3.5 hours.
