Flight info and reservations?
So my friends and I are planning to go on this trip to Japan this year. We're coming from Vancouver Canada and our 1 friend booked all our tickets. He got the flight confirmation from Air Canada but it also said our seats weren't booked at all. We also had another friend who booked it separately than us and he mistakenly booked one of the seats we booked. Once he told us about this I kind of got worried as our seats might not be booked at all. So I checked the website that where my friend booked all our tickets from and the seats he booked were still available and the seat my other friend booked was actually booked. I keep telling my friend that he should call Air Canada but he keeps saying it's fine, maybe that's true I'm just worried once we get there there's going to be no seats left. I'm just writing this on what are your thoughts, and if this ever happened to you.
My initial reaction to this was "don't sweat it, you've bought a ticket you will have a seat, they won't make you stand".
But I'm speaking from a European perspective. I've noticed you're from Canada. Not sure if the same thing happens there as does with your idiot neighbours to the south where airlines routinely overbook flights (don't know why they're allowed to get away with that). I'd call the airline to make sure.
Very simply, call and confirm, or wait and not have a seat…
If you have an Air Canada booking reference, then go to their website and check the details of your booking. If is getting more common that airlines of assigned seating at an extra charge, but that if you don't take that up you will still have a seat. Just reassure yourself that the original agent has complete your booking as expected. You could call Aiir Canada, but as mentioned, it maybe easier to check your booking online.
If you bought a ticket, then you 'a' seat even if one isn't assigned. Sometimes the class of your ticket and/or what seats are currently available means you can't go select the exact one you want. If this is the case the airline will assign you the exact seat within 24-48 hours before your flight time.
To see if you can select a seat, you would need to login to the airline site. Because your friend bought them, it's unlikely you'd be able to do that as they'd all be under his account. He would need to login and do it.
You have a right to worry. Until you get a seat assigned you run the risk of the airlines overbooking and have no free seats for you and your friends. With the flight confirmation letters, your friend can go online and reserve the seats for everyone on that flight. He should do that As soon as possible.
Be sure your friend understands that if you are one seat short, HE is the one who will have to stay behind.
- I cancelled a flight on expedia and was refunded in airline credit. I had purchased insurance on the ticket and didn't realize I had to File a claim to be refunded. I'm **** out of luck because I already ordered my other tickets and American Airlines is charging a $200 fee on the airline credit, so even if I eventually use the credit in the next 12 months, I'm still out $200.
- Plane ticket has first, middle and last name but my passport only has first and last name? I'm flying Scandinavian Airlines and my plane ticket has my first, middle, and last name but my passport only has my first and last name. Does anyone have any experience with this or think it will be an issue? I called the travel agency and they told me they could not do anything to correct the middle name. I was also thinking about bringing another form of ID like a birth certificate or social security card to be safe.
- Are Lufthansa seat reservations required? First time flyer, flying with Lufthansa, and noticed there are seat reservation options after booking my tickets, but do I have to actually reserve a seat to have a seat on the flight? Or will they randomly asign me a seat based on what's available? I've tried contacting them but never heard back, my flight is next week and just wanna make sure I'm good to go!
- Can Air Koryo join One World if North Korea and South Korea get united and Air Koryo buys more Airbus or Boeing planes? Korea already has Star Alliance (Asiana) and Skyteam (Korean Air) airlines. If Kim jong un dies and these two Korea become one Korea, can Air Koryo join One World after buying more newer planes like the A320 or 737?
