How to cope with Anxiety on a plane?
I must go on a plane in a few days to visit family.
I have an anxiety disorder ( diagnosed by a therapist) and I'm scared!
My fears are my things will be stolen ( my things were stolen last time I went on a plane and was left with nothing )
And that something bad might happen to the plane ( like it would break or something)
And that I might accidentally bring something that they won't allow
(I'll be bringing clothes, toothbrush and toothpaste, makeup, my seizure medications + painkillers ( both prescribed by my doctor) and a bit of art supplies, I'm scared they won't allow something! Cause once I got into trouble at an airport for bringing deodorant in a metal spray bottle ( that was how I bought it) and I felt so bad! So much anxiety )
Really, they are much safer than driving a car.
Anything of value and medications--I would pack in my carryon luggage. You can read on the TSA website the items you are allowed and not allowed to put in your luggage. And I'd highly suggest you put locks (TSA-approved) on all of your luggage.

Millions of others also do not like to fly.
My fears are my things will be stolen. Suggest you take a minimal amount of stuff. You can purchase stuff you NEED at destination.
Crime happens, at home and away from home.
And that I might accidentally bring something that they won't allow SO WHAT
If it is something not allowed they just take it away from you.
From your list of stuff
toothpaste TRAVEL SIZE it counts as liquid.
a bit of art supplies MEANS WHAT 200 paint brushes 50 canvases, 100 containers of paint? A notebook and some pencils for sketching, a hunk of leather and assorted tools to make a belt or purse, maybe some thread and little needles for embroidery. BE SPECIFIC.
ONCE and only just ONE TIME in the past I got into trouble at an airport for bringing deodorant in a metal spray bottle.
HOW HORRIBLE were you able to purchase some other stink stuff at destination?
Did you learn anything or do you need to be stopped twice before you learn what not to bring in your carry on/
Many lists available of what not to pack. TRY READING THEM. If in doubt then leave it out.
Maybe this time you will pack the proper size.
Suggest you make more use of your therapist.
In all seriousness try hypnotherapy. My sister is terrified of flying but has to a few times a year for work. She gets a session of hypno a few hours before leaving and it seems to work for her. Originally she had sessions in person a few days beforehand but these days a session via the phone is enough.
- Airplane mechanics: why would a plane have to burn off fuel before landing? My local news just talked about a flight having to return to the airport after "mechanical issues with the nose gear", but then it said that the plane had to circle the airport for about an hour "ro burn off enough fuel for landing". I'm curiois why would it have to burn off fuel instead of just landing? Especially if it turned around for mechanical issues.
- What's the exact meaning of flying in? Does it mean hopping on a plane or arriving at your destination? I recently got asked by one of my friends when I'm flying in. Then I just wondered if he meant by when i'm arriving at the airport or hopping on the plane. any help is appreciated.
- What's the best way to take a desktop on a plane trip? I'm going on a trip to Los Angeles an will be using Spirit Airlines. However, I'm planning on taking my HP ENVY 23-Inch All-in-One Touchscreen Desktop with Beats Audio and was wondering what was the best way to take it with me?
- Can I sleep at the San Francisco airport after I returned my rent a car there if I'm not taking a plane? My dead line to drop off the car was at 7 pm. But I got here too late to take the train that I wanted to. I'm too exhausted to go anywhere affter driving 600 miles here.
