Have you experienced having no designated seat no. On your itenirary? Did you had any problem when you arrived at the airport?
I paid for an international flight via travel agency and I'm distressed of not having any seat no. I checked online I paid more than the advertisement for about $200 more and I do not have any concerns about it but not having a seat number does. I contacted the travel agency and they said they'll see if they can contact the airline to give me seat no. I checked my booking online and there are additional payment for choosing a seat and I don't want to pay extra specially if it should be included with the arragement I paid for. They are not responding to my text messages and phone calls since the last time they said they'll call my airline. I also have read that the airline sell tickets more than they can accommodate in 1 flight and as much as possible I don't want to be one of the person who they will involuntarily remove. I'm afraid the risks may be of not having a designated seat. Anyone experience this before?
Seats are usually assigned at check-in, not before.
Usually, there are assigned seats for international travel. I would contact the airline, make sure they have your reservation, and ask about getting a seat assignment. If they can't do that, then you have to wait until you are in the 24 hour window of the departure, and you can probably pick a seat when you do your online check in.
And I wouldn't use whatever agent you used. I travel a lot, and have had to contact the booking agency on numerous occasions. I've never had them fail to return a call.
Two points on your booking, when you booked with the travel agent did they say it was assigned seating? And if they did, was the extra charge for that assigned seating?
$200 seems a lot for assigned seating, but they agent may not have the access to book it anyway.
If the airline doesn't know about this you can assume the travel agent has charged you for something they have not done. That is probably why they aren't answering your calls.
Do airlines oversell, Yes they do on all high demand routes, so their planes are as full as possible, due to expected no shows. To guarantee a seat even the seats you expected, you should checkin early online mostly available 24 hours before departure.
If you found something cheaper, than why did you go through a travel agency? Sounds like you are harassing them over it as to why they are not answering your texts or phone calls. I have never experienced this because I do my own travel plans.
I have not paid for a seat number on a shorthaul flight from the UK. All that happened was that those who had designated seats were first to board and then the rest of us found an empty seat and sat in it. If you are flying on your own, it doesn't really matter where you sit. If you are bothered, then book a seat.
You are not assigned a seat number until you check in.
No problem for me flying on a cheap airline from London UK to a provincial city in Spain and back again.
- I cancelled a flight on expedia and was refunded in airline credit. I had purchased insurance on the ticket and didn't realize I had to File a claim to be refunded. I'm **** out of luck because I already ordered my other tickets and American Airlines is charging a $200 fee on the airline credit, so even if I eventually use the credit in the next 12 months, I'm still out $200.
- Asthma suffers do you have any problems taking your inhalers through Airport security? I'm off to Canada tomorrow from Heathrow and I have packed two inhalers in my hand luggage, they are in a clear re-sealable bag, I don't have the original box or prescription. Should this cause any issues? Has anyone else had any issues getting inhalers through Airport security?
- Having had knee replacements I always get wanded at airports. If I have a global entry card, can I avoid this? I have a passport and global entry card, but still had bad experience at Chicago O'hare airport, having to be wanded and hand searched, very embarrassing for 80 year old woman. Should the global entry card have avoided this humiliation?
- I did an interview for Delta airlines and in the video interview I accidentally said American Airlines? Has anyone else had this problem? I caught it very quickly and said delta immediately and kept saying delta in the other answers. Do you think it can cost me the next step of the process?
