I'm flying to Chicago on February 28th. Should I wear jeans to the airport? Any advice for airport security and packing?
Yes. Wear something comfortable and warm. I don't know your starting point, but Chicago is -17 right now. So if jeans are your definition of warm and comfortable wear them. I'd wear a pair without rivets though. Too much metal isn't security friendly. Also no jewelry is security friendly.
Jeans are fine. A lot of people wear them when they fly
If you are comfortable with wearing jeans, go for it. You may want to bring a pair of sweatpants or something to change as it could get a little uncomfortable if you sit for a long period of time. You also may need to layer up once you get to chicago.
You can wear jeans to the Airport if you want to.
Suggest you where something that is comfortable to sit in for a few hours.
May want to check the weather forecast and pack any additional clothing that is appropriate for the expected weather.
Gloves, a warm jacket, maybe something for your feet.A hat a scarf or whatever in addition to just some pants.
Any advice for airport security and packing?
Do as instructed and expect a wait.
Pack as light as possible you have to haul all of it around with you getting to and from the Airports.
STORMS happen to disrupt travel. Not a bad idea to show up early.
Jeans are fine - dress comfortably, for sure.
If you want advice about packing and security, then I'd suggest asking more specific questions. There's a lot of information that can be provided, but that's a pretty vague and broad question. You should be sure to look at the TSA and airline regulations regarding your carry-on bags and what can go in them (pay attention to the liquid/gel rule).
Metal is generally not an issue at security anymore. Most all airports - even small ones - are now using body scanners instead of metal detectors. They don't react to metal. Even metal detectors generally do not react to normal amounts of jewelry and metal on clothing.
Wear shoes that are easy to remove and put back on, because you'll have to take them off at security.
Again, ask more specific questions and the people here will be happy to give you more information.
Comfort and weather at destination are the 2 biggest concerns
One December many years ago I departed the tropics, dressed in light weight trousers, short sleeve shirt and sandals, forgetting that when I arrived in Detroit it would be below freezing
- Is there any way to expedite the security screening at MXP airport in Milan, Italy? I'm planning a trip to Italy next year, flying in and out of Malpensa (MXP). Is there any process that I can sign-up for, as a US citizen, that will expedited my entry into the airport for when I'm leaving the country? Something equivalent to our TSA PreCheck. I know I have Global Entry for when I land in the US, but I'm trying to get through the Milan airport faster and not have to wait in long lines if at all possible.
- Asthma suffers do you have any problems taking your inhalers through Airport security? I'm off to Canada tomorrow from Heathrow and I have packed two inhalers in my hand luggage, they are in a clear re-sealable bag, I don't have the original box or prescription. Should this cause any issues? Has anyone else had any issues getting inhalers through Airport security?
- Is the Budapest airport good to sleep in for 6 hours? Or should I just break down and get a hotel near the airport? I have a late flight into the Budapest Airport landing at like 11:30 PM and my next flight isn't until 9:00 AM the next morning. Debating on whether or not to just book a hotel for the 6 hours.
- Packing for a flight tips? What are some tips, things I should know before packing my bag and heading to the airport? I've never flown before.
