Help with plane ticket?

So, I'm going a few states over by plane, alone. I'm 15, but you can't purchase a plane ticket under 18 online. Is it fine if we change the birth date that would make the person 18, and then explain at the airport desk the situation? Thanks.

Added (1). Go answer my recent question. Better explanation.

Added (2). I straightened it out, called the airline. Year is fixed.

No. Your parent or guardian will have to do that.

A 6 year old got lost and found tickets to fl twice figure it out

No, obviously not. Your ticket information needs to match your ID

Your parents will need to purchase the ticket for you

No. Really? You explain to the airline that you did something they don't allow? You think they'll just say, oh, yeah, sure, no problem'?

No. You can't buy a ticket because you can't travel out of state without your parent permission. The false data won't get you past security.

YES - kids under 18 flu alone all the time. You whole story smells bad.

I don't understand the problem at all. As you've mentioned in Comments, YOU are not buying the ticket at all: your parents are buying it. Assuming as we must that your parents are over 18, what is the difficulty? Adults buy tickets for their children all the time without falsifying anyone's age.

EDIT TO ADD: Why didn't you explain the whole situation sooner, instead of robotically repeating 'You can't choose one under 18'?

I don't understand why your parents didn't just call the airline to buy the ticket. That way, an agent could have explained what they need to do.

First off, I'm kinda calling bull on your question. I went into a couple of airline websites and was following through as if I were purchasing a ticket for a 15 year old. Guess what? I was able to do it online without any issues.

They would not let you board
Its illegal for minors to purchase airline tickets for a purpose
Without parents/guardians permission you ain't flying anywhere
And if you have permission buying a ticket online is no problem

  • First and Middle name joined on plane ticket online? I'm a first time flyer. Someone purchased a plane ticket from Delta online, he gave me the confirmation code to log in as a guest and I did with my first and last name. I checked on the flight details that my first and middle name are joined together. Will that be a issue when I get to the airport to show my ID?
  • (Re-repost) help with plane ticket? (Read the details.)? Alright, let me try and explain this better. I'm 15. I'm flying alone. My parents are buying the ticket. You can't choose 1 child and 0 adults for a ticket. So we went with 1 adult, and had to put my birthday in the year 2000 instead of 2003. My question simply is, Can we explain to the people at the airport desk our issue and how I'm not 18? Thanks. I straightened it out, called the airline. Year is fixed.
  • Trying to get a plane ticket with Southwest Airlines. When trying to open an account it takes my name ok, but when it comes to the address,? It keeps telling me to enter a valid address. I did give them my correct address! I have tried Chrome, Firefox, and Bing all with the same results. I have tried this many times over two days with the same results. What gives?
  • Plane ticket has first, middle and last name but my passport only has first and last name? I'm flying Scandinavian Airlines and my plane ticket has my first, middle, and last name but my passport only has my first and last name. Does anyone have any experience with this or think it will be an issue? I called the travel agency and they told me they could not do anything to correct the middle name. I was also thinking about bringing another form of ID like a birth certificate or social security card to be safe.
