Have you ever had problems checking a piece of luggage that was slightly over 62 inches?

I need a new checked bag, but the piece I'm looking at is 28 inches in length… Which means the total outside dimensions are 63 inches (L+W+H). The airlines say that the bag is oversized if it's over 62 inches (L+W+H). That's an extra $200 for 1 extra inch.
I know they're really strict about weight, but I've never seen them take out a tape measure on anyone's checked luggage to measure the dimensions. It looks smaller than some bags I've seen people checking.
Have you ever had someone measure your bags to make sure it was under 62 inches?

Do civilian aircraft mechanics require a security clearance?

I understand that places like Lockheed Martin probably require their aircraft mechanics to have security clearances, especially when working on military projects. But what about normal airlines such as Delta, etc. How common are civilian aircraft mechanic jobs that don't require security clearances.

I tried search engines, but all I get are job posting websites that don't answer my question.

Bringing a CPAP machine through security at Frankfurt Airport?

My wife and I are going to Germany later this year. She has to use a CPAP machine. We've never had any trouble flying domestically with it here in the US Is there anything special to do with it when going through security in Frankfurt for our flight back to the US or should it be as easy as it is here in the States? We're on Delta Airlines, if that matters at all.
