Are passport numbers verified at airport?

I've had a bit of a nightmare, lost a passport and cancelled it then later found it.

I've basically applied for replacement but times running out, I'm awaiting call back within 24 hours to upgrade it as travelling soon so hopefully all will be ok anyway!

Was just wondering if travelled with old passport would I likely make it through, its an official passport and doesn't expire for years but has been cancelled.

This is worst case scenario, hopefully I can arrange to pick up new passport at office as soon as possible.

No, you won't be allowed to fly with the old passport. When you reported it lost it was made invalid by the authorities. You have to wait for the new one to be issued before you can travel again.

Yes. When they scan it at the airport, security will come and arrest you for using an invalid passport.

No, you will not make it through; they scan them ALWAYS, As soon as you reported that passport it was deactivated (to prevent fraudulent use), so NO you would not make it through and they would think you were the fraudulent character trying to use the passport and be detained.

The passport is CANCELLED it is VOID it is a souvenir. Officially it is useless.
Passport Control will want the NEW one.

Air line staff are not Passport Control
The doorman at the bar is not Passport control.

The computer can check in seconds when scanned. Immigration wants the NEW one.
Your old one is a pretty souvenir.

Expect to be held and delayed will they try to figure it out. They will not be in a hurry. And you WAIT in custody. Usually needing your fingerprints to verify.

Of course they are. The moment you cancelled your passport that passport became invalid. This is to prevent criminals using stolen passports.
